Deaths By Type of Aircraft

Deaths By Aircraft Type

Their were 236 deaths from 56 different aircraft.
The number after each type represents the deaths that occurred from that aircraft.
The number of aircraft involved with those deaths is shown in the (   ).

B-17 = 84  (14)
B-24 = 51   (7)
C-47 = 32   (2)
C-53 = 24   (4)
P-47 = 15   (15)
B-26 = 9   (3)
B-25 = 5   (2)
AT-6 = 4   (2)
C-39 = 3   (1)
B-34 = 3   (1)
L-5 = 2   (1)
L-3 = 1   (1)
L-2 = 1   (1)
BT-13 = 1   (1)
Luscombe = 1   (1)

Once exception to the above list is an airmen who was killed in the Harvard mid-air collision who died as a result of either hitting the plane while leaving or his parachute not opening.

There were also 7 other deaths, but the planes did not crash. These can be attributed to parachute = 7, struck by a propeller = 1, and taking his own life = 1. See the non-crash sites for these deaths.
