Nebraska WWII Fatal Crash Site # 4
May 28, 1943
The crash of an L-3B (42-36258) single-seat liaison plane near Alliance was the result of an unknown cause. The crash occurred in a pasture east of the former Alliance Municipal Airport while the pilot was practicing landings and takeoffs. This airport no longer exists today. Possible engine stall due to improper pilot technique was listed as the probable cause that took the life of the pilot.
The area near the site was visited on May 19, 2007. There was no documentation found or witnesses that could identify the exact site of the crash. Although the correct field is known from a sketch in the crash report, there is probably no physical evidence of the crash since there was little structural breakage of the plane.
Somewhere out in this pasture is the crash site.
