Nebraska WWII Fatal Crash Site # 38
Bruning Army Air Field
July 7, 1944
An aircraft involving P-47G (42-25252) went out of control and crashed near the Bruning Army Air Field while coming in to land. The plane struck the ground, cartwheeled, and killed the pilot.
The exact site of this crash has not yet been determined due to the lack of finding anyone who remembers the crash. According to the accident report, Lt. Peterson's plane was coming in on Runway 13 and heading northwest when it veered to the right and crashed in the field.
The red "X" marks the probable location where Lt. Peterson's plane crashed. The Bruning AAF is now being used a feed lot by Mid-America Feed Yards.
